The event will be held Saturday, September 26th from 11:00am to 7:00pm at WGBH, 1 Guest Street in Boston. A cocktail reception will be held from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.

A host of Panels and Presentations include a Producers Conversation featuring Erika Hampson (TUMBLEDOWN, GOD’S POCKET, INFINITELY POLAR BEAR). IFFBoston will present two programs of made in Massachusetts Short Films. One program will contain documentary films and the second narrative films. Each will be a ninety-minute program. AVID Technology and Quantum will have a full day of demo presentations. And something that everyone is interested in knowing more about is being addressed by a Drones Panel – A conversation on how storytelling and media experiences are evolving in the landscape of mobile devices and viewing. This panel is moderated by Scott Kirsner, Columnist, The Boston Globe and Editor of Innovation Leader and includes Andrew Amato, Editor in Chief of Drone Life; Abby Speicher, Co-founder and CEO of Dart Drone; Jeff Adams, Co-founder of Unmanned Aerial Systems Development (USAD) and Michael Chambliss, Business Rep of International Cinematographers Guild / IATSE 600. Chambliss works with sUAV crews and vendors and the ICG members and FAA on refining guidelines, safety and procedures for this new genre of cinematography.

Another issue with big stakes is Mobile Content and Storytelling. It will be addressed in a conversation on how storytelling and media experiences are evolving in the landscape of mobile devices and content viewership across all platforms. The panel includes Ben Jones, Creative Director, Google; Mike Rubenstein, Hill Holiday, VP Integrated Operations and Athena Peters, Turbine Executive Producer (LORD OF THE RINGS / Warner Bros Games). More panelists are to be announced when confirmed.

And something we’ve all been waiting for – our first intimate taste of the movie BLACK MASS – so long in development and finally premiering in September. This will be a local production story and a conversation with key personnel and local crew who worked on BLACK MASS.

The panel includes at this writing Erica McDermott, who plays Mary Bulger; Dan Caver, Compositing Supervisor at Zero VFX; Charlie Harrington, Location Manager; Virginia Johnson, Costume Supervisor; Tom Williams, Sound Mixer and Jeremy Woodward, Art Director. Just imagine what we’ll learn from this group and more may be announced. The Expo is attended by over 600 industry members throughout the day and is made possible by major support and generosity from WGBH and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
