Women in Film and Video/New England presented the second annual Image Awards for Excellence and Vision on Tuesday, May 16th, at a black-tie gala that filled the Grand Ballroom of the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. Once again, the event celebrated the achievements of a group of local women and their contributions to the film, television, and new media industries. This year’s honorees included: Rebecca Eaton of WGBH, Executive Producer of EXXON OMBIL MASTERPIECE THEATER and MYSTERY!; Michele LaMura, founder and publisher of NewEnglandFilm.com and BuyIndies.com; Judy Richardson, a producer of Blackside Inc.’s landmark documentary series MALCOLM X: MAKE IT PLAIN and EYES ON THE PRIZE; Michal Goldman, award-winning documentarian and founder and President of Filmmakers Collaborative; and Connie White and Marianne Lampke, founders and co-directors of the Boston International Festival of Women’s Cinema, the Provincetown Film Festival, and Running Arts at the Brattle and the Beacon Cinema Group.

As with last year’s gala, this year’s event was a success due to the generosity of the Image Awards sponsors and the hard-working efforts of so many in-kind donors and volunteers. Women in Film and Video/New England wants to thank everyone who helped make the evening such an unforgettable one.
